Light as part of architecture.
The Light Studio is a Barcelona-based lighting studio founded in 2022 by Carlota Sabrafen. The team brings together more than 30 years of combined experience developing projects in which design, technique and product knowledge are part of a single decision.
We undertake all kinds of projects: homes, retail, restaurants, offices, hotels and outdoor spaces, working with architects, interior designers, engineering firms, installers and end clients.

Carlota Sabrafen has worked in the lighting sector since 2013. In 2022 she founded The Light Studio in Barcelona with the aim of approaching lighting from a holistic view of the project: design, technical development, product selection and follow-up through to completion.
Over the years she has worked on residential, commercial and corporate projects of different scales, from private homes and small spaces to retail, premium automotive and distinctive spaces for international brands.
The studio works in a close and flexible way, joining multidisciplinary teams and adapting to the architecture, the use of the space and the real needs of each project.

Concept design
We analyse the space, its intended use and the needs of the project to define the lighting strategy, the atmospheres and the first selection criteria.

Project development
We carry out lighting calculations with DIALux evo, define the layout and position of the luminaires on the technical drawings in AutoCAD and select the lighting solutions needed to turn the concept into a buildable proposal.

Follow-up
We support every stage of the installation, coordinating implementation, supply and the adjustments needed so that the final result matches the original idea.

The track record of The Light Studio and its team includes projects in Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa and Oceania. Each context brings a different way of living, working and experiencing space; our job is to understand it and translate it into a coherent lighting proposal, from concept and technical development through to completion.
